Melamine is an incombustible raw material, easy to sublimate by heating, and will be decomposed by rapid heating. It can be an excellent flame retardant, mainly because it decomposes at 250-450 ℃ and absorbs a lot of heat and release ammonia and form various polycondersates, this character can affect the melting of materials and accelerate their natridation to coke.Low cost,no corrosion,no irritation to skin and eyes, nor carcinogens.
Melamine is widely used as an important flame retardant of polyurethane foam plastics because of its special flame retardancy and smoke suppression. Melamine is a solid flame retardant used for molding polyurethane foam,it achieve flame ratardance by decompose and absorb. In addition, melamine is added to polyether glycol using for flame retardancy of soft foams.
